The Pop Culture Collaborative supports organizations and initiatives that are designing, coordinating, and activating long-term narrative change strategies at the pop culture level from within social movements.

Caring Across Generations

An innovative pop culture strategy will enable Caring Across Generations to elevate often-overlooked caregivers as multi-dimensional protagonists in society, transforming how we think about aging, race, gender, and community in the 21st century. ¬ Their stories will illuminate the essential and complex role of caregiving in our everyday lives and expose the critical need for greater public support for all families as we live longer and require more care.

By consulting writers room staffs, showrunners and industry executives, Color Of Change seeks to reshape dominant narratives and shift cultural norms to ensure the entire entertainment industry responds with greater responsibility to the ways in which they represent Black people and other marginalized communities. National Domestic Workers Alliance

The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) builds power nationally for domestic workers, including nannies, housecleaners, and home healthcare workers. NDWA organizes low-wage workers to improve their living and working conditions; win respect and justice from employers and government; challenge racism and sexism that has led to the persistent devaluing of this labor, so that the dignity of domestic work is honored; end the exclusion of domestic workers from recognition and protection; and fight labor displacement and exploitation created by globalization.

Founded by migrant workers brought to the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the National Guestworker Alliance organizes across the United States to win collective dignity and fairness in labor and migration policies. The Restaurant Opportunities Centers United (ROC United) is dedicated to seeking improved wages and working conditions for restaurant workers nationwide. Founded in New York City after September 11, 2001, to provide support to restaurant workers displaced as a result of the destruction of the World Trade Center, ROC United has grown into a national organization of 130,000 restaurant workers, “high road” restaurant employers, and consumers working together to realize a vision of a food system that includes sustainable wages and working conditions for the people who cook, prepare, and serve our food.
