Meet our grantee:

National Guestworkers Alliance/Resilience Force

Founded by migrant workers brought to the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the National Guestworker Alliance (NGA) organizes to win collective dignity and fairness in labor and migration policies in the United States. NGA believes that by rewriting the rules of disaster response and rebuilding, movements can accelerate changes in the political, policy, and cultural norms that are currently standing in the way of ensuring economic equity, immigrant freedom, and social equity in America. NGA has developed, with the Collaborative’s support, the Resilience Force, a national initiative designed to popularize a new, culturally recognized hero—the “Resilience Worker”—part of the largely immigrant and Black workforce responding to and cleaning up cities after climate disasters.
