In Defense of Black Women

Planned Parenthood and Blackbird present a conversation centered on the movements and spaces that are protecting the rights and lives of Black womyn, girls, and femmes. The hashtag #protectblackwomen took off in late 2018 after the nation witnessed back-to-back assaults. These attacks are a reminder that while Black womyn, girls, and femmes remain on the frontlines of fighting for our communities, they are the least protected. This panel will feature activists, content creators, and issue experts that center and uplift the leadership of the Black womyn, girls, and femmes who are working to interrupt prominent narratives in the media and expanding cultural and political consciousness around this targeted violence.
